Let God do it.

It's all in the word

• These verses have very special meaning to me. They describe the man I used to be, and God used them to change my life. I will share more on that one day, but for now, think about this:
  
  
  • These words were written to people who love and obey God.
    
  • They affirm that Believers are sometimes "in the dark".
    
  • They instruct us what to do in dark times: Trust God.
    
  • They contain a stern warning and the consequences if abandon trust in Him and go our own way without His direction.

Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment. (Isa 50:10-11 NIV)

The Word

• A powerful statement: "You alone have the words that give eternal life." That makes Jesus' words the most significant ever spoken.
  
  We have them recorded in the Bible, available in a book and other media, via our phones and computers, on websites, and more.
  
  But how often do we read them? And when we do, do we really make them part of our lives? Or are they just words on a page that we read out of obligation, expectation, habit, or ritual?
  
  Think about it.

At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you going to leave, too?" Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life. We believe them, and we know you are the Holy One of God." (John 6:66-69 NLT)

God works in your future

During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:9-10 NIV)

Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe's knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire. The king and all his attendants who heard all these words showed no fear, nor did they tear their clothes. (Jer 36:23-24 NIV)

Don't mess with the wrong people

Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. (Acts 16:26-32 NIV)

God is!

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. (Psa 5:11-12 NIV)
