It hurts when someone we love or respect does not live up to their
promise or confession. Sometimes the problem is their integrity;
other times, it is our expectation or idealization of them.
Either way, their failure makes the distinction of God's
faithfulness greater. He is the only One whose integrity will not
fail. Not in this life. Not in the next.
And either way, do not let disappointment in another person's
failure damage your relationship with the One who will never fail.
To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and
do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and
consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their
actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit
for doing anything good. (Titus 1:15-16 NIV)
