We had an opportunity to "live" this yesterday. Sometimes it takes a little while to get over the initial shock when something (like a direct spiritual challenge) happens.
More important is what you do when you come back to your spiritual senses. Like getting slapped in the face: It takes a moment to recover, but by then, the culprit had better be running...
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! (Psa 46:1-3 NLT)
